Today is my mother’s birthday. And what do you say to the woman who gave you life? Who worked super hard to make sure you had everything you needed? Who made sure you and your four siblings went to college, even when some of you didn’t want to (that’d be me)? Who is always there for you (and her other children and her grandchildren) when you (all) really need her?
And she’s fun on a road trip (she told me so!).
And so on. I guess you just say thank you. Thank you for everything you’ve given me and everything you’ve taught me.
Including how to clean up well.
Happy birthday, Mama! May you live to 120! You’re halfway there; keep it up.

What a sweet post! Happy Birthday to your mom. She doesn’t look 60 at all!
Love the name of your blog…it literally drew me over here from another one! Very cute.

Ameena: Thank you for reading my blog! The title is from the Paul McCartney song of the same name (here’s the link from the first post: http://www.howeverabsurd.com/2007/07/05/however-absurd-it-may-seem/). I’ve read your blog also; you have a beautiful family!
And I agree; my mom looks great!

Thank you Sara for the beautiful post. It is my honor and pleasure to be the mother of “five (+3) remarkable children” and four fantastic grandchildren! Thanks for spending the day with me yesterday and shlepping me around to places I never get to. I especially loved dinner with you and Moo – delicious food and fun company – good times! Lil, I look forward to our time together this Spring.
Thanks to everyone for all the good wishes, gifts and cards. I can’t believe I am 60. Where did all the time go? What have I learned in all my years here on this earth? Don’t “sweat the small stuff” is a real statement of truth. Enjoy every moment. Treasure the good times with the people you love, it all goes by so quickly.
My birthday wish for everyone – good health to all and BE HAPPY!! I love you all – my family and friends.
