Months ago, I scheduled two vacation days for this coming Monday and Tuesday, anticipating a trip to Tampa to see southern nephew JP. However, I didn’t anticipate charging $700 on my Discover Card (they love me!) to fix my car. So, I’m taking a staycation! I have the usual weekend errands and exercising planned, but otherwise, I’m free, and I couldn’t be happier (although I really would’ve liked to see JP; he’s growing up so fast!). My mom and I do have a day trip planned for Monday; if it all works out, perhaps another post will be up in a few days! Oh, the excitement!
You’re also probably thinking, "I’ve missed you, Sara! Won’t you tell me what you’ve been up to?" OK, I will. A couple of our Israeli cousins were in town at the beginning of the month, so we spent time with family that weekend. Speaking of family, my cousin Lil and my brother Adam (JP’s dad) celebrated their birthdays yesterday! Happy birthday to them…and to Liz Lemon! And it’s been a few very busy (and slightly stressful) weeks at work, so this staycation is well deserved.
And since I started this post, it’s begun with a dinner out, a big drink, and a snooze on the couch. Now it’s the middle of the night, it’s freezing, and I’m awake writing this. The fun never stops around here! Anyway, if you need me over the next few days, you can find me doing this:
Well, sans beach. And probably with long pants. Did I mention it’s freezing here?

Thanks, everyone! I wish you all could have a staycation, too. And Mama, I heard you’re fun on a road trip; you best bring some snacks!
So far, all I’ve done this weekend is run, eat, and run a few errands. I better find something to do for the rest of today.

But on staycation, you can’t say, “Have to get away.” But you are going on a road trip, so I guess you can!

grrrr! I just spent two weeks working in freezing cold Alaska, was home for all of 16 hours, and am now up in D.C. for the week. Enjoy your staycation for me, spend a day doing absolutely nothing!!!

Ryan: Thanks to Facebook, I saw that you were in Alaska! I guess I won’t complain that I’m freezing in my house right now. I haven’t decided what to do tomorrow; perhaps that’s when I’ll do absolutely nothing (though I didn’t do much this weekend actually)!

Lil: Yes, we did. I just haven’t written the post about it yet. The best part of a two-day staycation is that I can write it up this afternoon.
#1 b-i-l: I can’t believe The Duck is in school! Such a big girl. Today looks like this: Finally going for a run. I figured I better stop putting it off since it’s not going to get much warmer than this. Then I need to write that post that Lil mentioned details about.
