Actually, life hasn’t been a beach for over two weeks. That’s when we were at the Jersey Shore (shut it now) to spend time with my mom’s cousins and enjoy the beach. Anyway, I had a whole post formed in my head over a week ago, but you know how it goes. So, since I’ve forgotten all of that, I’m just going to update the blog in style. Cheers and jeers style, that is!
Cheers to a weekend vacation to the beach! The Canadian nieces and nephew (and their parents, of course) joined Mama and me for the ride down (actually, since we went in their car, I guess we joined them). It was a good time with fun cousins. And cheers to Uncle Max, whose 90th birthday was celebrated that weekend!
Jeers to having improper beachwear. Don’t get naughty; I was totally covered. However, I wore running capris and a tank top due to my improper beach body. Jeers to insecurity. Cheers to the weather, though; I wasn’t too hot after all! And cheers to napping on the beach. Oh yes, I did.
Cheers to spending two weeks with the northern nieces and nephew! I miss them so much (they left on Sunday).
Cheers to turning two. Last Saturday was southern nephew JP’s second birthday! Happy birthday, cute boy! I’m sorry you couldn’t join us at the beach. You would’ve had a great time with your cousins.
Cheers to more birthday celebrations! My Canadian sister’s and our cousin’s birthdays are a day apart, and we celebrated just like we used to when they were younger:
Note: Never turn down a piece of Carvel ice cream cake. Trust me.
Happy 35th 27th, Rachel!
Jeers to taking forever to post. I’m to blame, of course, for not sitting down and just writing out the things floating around my head (which have since floated away, clearly). But I’d also like to blame my computer, which can suck it. And I’m sure it would be able to do if it weren’t so slow.
Jeers to my knees. Why do you hate me so?
Cheers to Paul McCartney. Because, well, why the hell not? And also because he’s a good sport. He’s been on tour the past few months and has encountered a few fans wanting him to sign various body parts so they can tattoo his signature on them. And he’s done it! Crazy, right?

Photos by Bob Gannon. And holy crap! SO AWESOME.
And, apparently, he helped out a family who bought expensive tickets to his show and then got moved far away in the venue because their daughter is in a wheelchair. Not only did they get moved up front, but she also appeared on stage and got a hug from Sir Paul himself!
Jeers that none of the people brought up on stage was me. And jeers that I haven’t seen him on this tour. But cheers to the rumor that the Up and Coming Tour will be extended for six more shows! I hope he comes around here. And I hope I win the lottery so I can pay for the ticket.
And I’ll end on that hopeful note. Do you have any cheers or jeers you’d like to add?

Not interested in the situation on the Joisey Shore. Come down here, and we will show you what a real beach looks like. You’ll have to wear your warm weather capris, though…

JP: Actually, you’re my southern nephew. And I think it’s a bit rude that you’re not interested in our Joisey Shore vacation! I’ve been to the beach where you’re located. I believe I sweat through some capris there.

Thanks for the long awaited post.
Cheers to family! Cheers to the ocean! Cheers to birthdays!
Jeers to long distances, may we all be together again soon.
To Sir Paul,
You are a true gentleman.

I am the southern cousin of the other cousins at the shore. I am very interested in hanging with the cuz’s, but not at the Jersey Shore. Too close the Philly, and nothing good ever came out of there…

Mama: Have you really been waiting for this post? Sorry to disappoint you with such a lame one.
JP: But I have that West Chester Swings shirt! And this also came out of West Chester (again, cheers to Paul!): http://www.nbcphiladelphia.com/news/weird/McCartney-Fan-Turns-Autograph-into-Tattoo–100983174.html

Whatever to JP’s dad’s beach. So wonderful when you’re the only family members on it…you missed out on the Cote d’Jerz with the extended cousins, Snooki, and us. Seriously. It was great. And it would have been lovely to see our little JP show his beach prowess to his northern cousins. And they had ice cream that strangely DID NOT MELT. Maybe you’ll re-think your beach xenophobia enough to join a family event.
Anyway, so far 27 is fabulous. Again. Thanks for the shout out!

Forever 27: Too bad Snooki couldn’t join us either; I believe she was arrested that weekend! And next time I’m totally calling it “Cote d’Jerz” so I don’t have to tell people to shut it.

Were you on one of the free beachers, or one you have to pay for? We don’t have those out here in CA. Totally tripped me out when I went. But, nothing in New Jersey made any kind of sense to me (I lived there for one looong summer).
8-19-2010 at 07:41:54
Hallie: We did have to pay! That’s Jersey for you!
8-19-2010 at 09:43:41
Pay for beaches? That’s absurd! The beach should be free! You should only pay for the grouper sandwiches!
I would love to go to a family event, Forever 35. In fact, I have traveled to many of them. Just not this past one. I was merely being snarky about beach in Jersey. Come down here and I will take you to Clearwater Beach or Fort DeSoto in St. Pete or Honeymoon Island. You will see there is no comparison.

What beach did you go to? I’ve spent TONS of time at the Jersey Shore. Let me also add that shows like “Jersey Shore” give people from/living in NJ the worst reputation ever… they picked out the stereotypical Jersey people for that show and now everybody thinks all people in Jersey are like that!
I hope you had a good time

jersey shore was a blast. we even got to hear the lou bega cover band on the boardwalk late saturday evening. krohmals rock. long live uncle max and betty white!
8-19-2010 at 19:45:31
JP: I don’t think you should take your sister to Honeymoon Island.
Ryan: We were in Avon-by-the-Sea. And thanks, we did have a good time!
Married to the NYS: I forgot about the band! The Pie really liked their cover of Cotton-Eyed Joe. Ask her.
8-19-2010 at 22:50:57
SJP, it wasn’t about the actual beach. The fact that it was beautiful (and it was…I’ve been to other beautiful beaches in the Caribbean and in Israel) was a bonus. It was the people on the beach. And the non-melting ice cream and strange cover band. No, wait, those were bonuses too.
I mean, it’s not every day you get to hear your 90-year-old uncle tell you to “Get over it, already!” when you check his head after he tripped.

Oops. Please pardon my inability to hold the shift key when try to make an exclamation point.

Kristin: Yay for better sleeping weather! I’m heading to bed now, and I’m super excited for a cool breeze to come through my windows instead of the stagnant heat just hanging there. Also, I was going to fix your “1″ and make it an exclamation point without saying anything, but you already put a comment there, which I thought was cute. Only a proofreader (or a former one, in your case)!

Cheers to rwo weeks with Torontonians! Jeers to having to work so much. Cheers to spring rolls (that one is for you, Pie)!
JP: You never took me to the beach!
Cheers to a new post!
