I’m in the airport waiting for my flight to take off, which is delayed for over an hour. I thought this would be a good time to blog about my trip (if the Internet connection/my computer will let me; it’s moving so slowly).
I arrived in Tampa on Saturday morning. Actually, maybe I should take a step back to when I woke up. At 4:00 a.m. Why? Because I still had to pack for my 8:00 flight! That’s right. I work best under pressure. And I hate packing and was too tired to deal with it the night before. I also hate flying, so after a coffee in the airport and a little anti-anxiety medication, I got on the plane, fell asleep for a half hour, and was exhausted and staring around the plane for the rest of the flight. Anyway, I arrived in Tampa early and was super excited to see my nephew! And my brother and sister-in-law, of course. We went to lunch at Tijuana Flats and then spent a lot of time hanging out. They were also nice enough to get me a cake to celebrate my birthday!

Found a picture of it. Mmmm…cream cheese frosting.
The cake was from Publix, which I love everything about. Come up north, Publix!
On Sunday, after I went for a very hot run (holy crap, humidity!), we went to Fort De Soto Park, where we did this:
Pedaling along
This was a lot of fun, actually, but not as easy as you’d think. We were a bunch of sweaty messes when we were done! Especially JP; he’s a good pedaler! (If only. Like our card games, we needed a fourth.) Then we went out for Thai food and some of the worst service ever. On Monday, my brother and sister-in-law had to work, so I hung out at home and relaxed. I went for another hot run, took care of the Mother’s Day present I’ve been (supposedly) putting together for weeks, and walked down to the dock and read a book I stole out of the garage. It was actually nice to just have a day to relax. I also tried to play with the dogs, but apparently it was too hot out for them; they did one lap around the yard and curled up in the grass. My Frisbee throw was ignored. Bums.
Anyway, that’s the gist of everything. I’m going to try to post this and pack this in so I can see if my flight is ever going to take off. Thank you, southern family, for being great hosts. Brother: You’re a pretty good cook! Thanks for all the vegetarian options. S-i-l: Thank you for the deeeeelicious baked apple dish last night (complete with Publix frozen yogurt; have I mentioned I love Publix?). And JP: I miss you so much already! You’re adorable, sweet, and hilarious! I hope you’ll allow me to visit again. When it’s less humid.

Ryan: Tampa’s airport does indeed have free wi-fi. It did crap out on me more than once, but I got the post done! And I’m not putting anyone to shame with my so-called running. Believe me.

one of the best lost episodes ever. i will say no more in case any of the absurd followers has not watched yet. your niece lost another tooth last night. she knows that times are tough and has lowered her demands from the tooth fairy. tooth #1 was $4.00 tooth #2 was $3.00 and all teeth to follow will have a $2.00 price tag. if those are the only dental bills we get for her i will be very happy.

#1 b-i-l: Lost was awesome and sad. I was right about Sayid! And poor Jin and Sun (and their daughter). I totally lost it when Hurley started crying. And I saw The Pie’s toothless grin on Skype! So adorable!

I agree – Lost was great but sad. Do you think they will just kill off the characters at a faster pace now until only 1 is left?
Glad to hear the Pie is a tough negotiator in the tooth fairy wars.

It’s funny that half the comments here have nothing to do with this post. Also funny is that I seem to have forgotten to write that I got chosen for a random screening at the security checkpoint and then got felt up by a security officer because I apparently didn’t hold my arms open wide enough in the machine. Good times.

I am glad you had a great time. And glad you are home. And glad you brought great pictures with you, since you could not sneak JP in your bag!
