…for some cheers and jeers!
Cheers to Thanksgiving!
| |
Appetizers and wine. I ate and drank while I cooked.
Dinner (for three!) included spinach salad with walnuts and strawberries, cranberry crunch, a fake meatloaf, roasted root vegetables, and close-up shots of the salad and vegetables (the other food, while delicious, is not photogenic when separated from its serving dish).
Thanksgiving was spent at home with Mama and Miriam. I woke up in the morning, went for a run, and prepared most of the food you see above (Mama made the cranberry crunch). I also made Miriam an unpictured cocktail! Vodka and pineapple juice. She’s declared herself a vodka girl. Cheers to that!
Cheers to my family. Thanks for spending the holiday with me. And thanks for eating my food, even if it wasn’t as tasty as I would’ve liked. I wish the whole family could’ve spent Thanksgiving together!
Cheers to other good food I’ve enjoyed recently.
Another dish I made: quinoa topped with sautéed vegetables (I’m sure there’s onions, carrots, zucchini, broccoli, cauliflower, and spinach in there) and baked tofu (with some marinade I threw together). Delicious!
Jeers to cancer and lives lost too soon.
Cheers to a night filled with karaoke and Elvis! That would be three guys dressed up as Elvis: one Afro Elvis (he was about seven feet tall with a wig and a white Elvis suit); one Pompadour Elvis (with the aforementioned hairstyle and a black Elvis suit); and Mexican Elvis (complete with sombrero and glasses; for all we know, Elvis has been hiding south of the border all these years and resurfaced at our local karaoke bar!). Good times were had by all, especially me, since I, as designated drinker, enjoyed the shot that the Elvises (Elvi?) bought for Lil!
Cheers to free stuff! I almost forgot about the giveaway I won! Thanks to Feed Me I’m Cranky; she always posts giveaways that are happening around the blogs, and through her site, I found a giveaway and won!
Thanks to the folks at Mix My Granola for the gift certificate toward my very own granola mix! It contains (in case you can’t read it in the photo) organic granola, cranberries, roasted almonds, organic flax seeds, chocolate mini morsels, and lots of LOVE! And it’s delicious. I especially like it sprinkled on top of my oatmeal, which means it’s lasted a while, since I only have time to make oatmeal on the weekend. Go check it out and make your own mix (or you can use mine!).
Jeers to my computer. It’s so slow lately, making it nearly impossible to get things done. So, while I’m at it, I’ll end this post with a few things that I was going to post separately.
Cheers to The Beatles! As I mentioned a couple of posts back, my Beatles box set arrived just in time for my trip to Toronto! Only two months after I ordered it. Huzzah!
I ripped open the package and immediately hugged the set.
And speaking of The Beatles…
Cheers to John Lennon. Jeers, again, to lives lost too soon. John Lennon died 29 years ago today. Cheers to the music left behind.

I second all your jeers. But Thanksgiving was nice. Especially the cocktail! So tasty! Jeers to the upcoming weather….I am nervous for the commute on Wednesday morning!

How about CHEERS to you for still going out running even though the weather has gotten so cold! I’m down in warm NC and it’s still too cold for me to go running outside! I need motivational lessons from you.
Also, CHEERS to your one photo showing off your water “jug.” You truly are a water snob!

Ryan: It wasn’t that cold on Thanksgiving. But it was probably way colder than it was in NC. It’s getting pretty cold these days; I was all bundled up on my walks during work!

The “Givvy” was lovely – wish there were more people at the table with us – but in a couple of weeks the house will hopefully be overflowing!!
Thanks Dorothy and Rose for being there. Thanks to Dorothy for all the delicious preparations.

Granola with chocolate chips? Now that’s my kind of granola.

I will come to Thanksgiving dinner if you saw open the Hubbard Squash.

Kristin: Chocolate chips are required in granola, aren’t they?
Lil: I miss Emma already.
