My life is food.  Well, I just like to eat.  Too much.  And I read a lot of food blogs (such as Eat, Live, Run, Kath Eats,  Hangry Pants, and Carrots ‘N’ Cake, just to name a few).  And I try to be healthy; I exercise and I try to eat well, but I tend to overeat, and I’m trying to overcome that.  I was thinking about posting more of my meals.  I wouldn’t turn this into a full food diary type of blog because, well, that would really be boring for everyone (for example, would you really want to see a daily photo of yogurt, a banana, and cereal, which is usually my breakfast every day at work?).  But planning to post a bit every day could help me be honest with myself about my food intake.  Because as it is right now, I’m not telling you about my nightly snack(s).  But maybe I wouldn’t get to that "I have to hide it" stage if I promise myself to be honest about it in this open setting.  And I’d rather be proud of what I’m writing about (like when I’ve posted about exercising).  So if you start to see a bunch of food/meal posts, it’s because I’m trying to hold myself accountable.  Oh, and I can write about whatever I want!

That said, no one really reads this blog anyway, so it really would be just a journal for myself.  (Thank you, Kristin, for continuing to read and comment even though I’ve been so bad about commenting on your blog.  I have an excuse: I often read your blog at work, and I’ve stopped commenting on blogs while at work, since putting my name in there often logs me into various accounts.  I’ll get in trouble.  Big Brother is watching.)  So, on that note, this week’s journal would include some tasty items:

pizza

This pizza was made on Trader Joe’s whole wheat dough, which I defrosted yet found it was way easier to handle than fresh dough.  I topped it with sauce, mozzarella cheese, sautéed peppers, zucchini, and broccoli, sliced tomatoes, and fresh basil (from Mama’s plant).  And it was delicious!  There was just enough left over from Thursday night’s dinner to have for lunch on Friday.

On Saturday, I made some banana muffins:

muffins 1 muffins 2 muffins 3

The pan on the left has peanut butter chips while the one on the right has chocolate chips.  The second and third photos are just different views of the two pans of mini muffins.  I was trying to be artsy.

My John Lemon cutting board!  It’s glass and actually hard to cut on, so I use it as a hot plate.  The muffins were on top of it.  Isn’t it the best?  My sister has Tina Turnip, and I got my mom the Elvis Parsley version.

apron

Yikes.  I hadn’t showered yet.  But I’m totally rockin’ that cow apron, don’t you think?

I also made some guacamole, which isn’t pictured because it wasn’t quite finished.  After mashing everything together, I realized that I didn’t have any cilantro.  Neither did any of the grocery stores I visited yesterday (and I went to three!).  And then the guac, despite all the lime juice, browned up a bit.  It was not so photogenic.  It begged me to not take its picture.

Miriam

And so did she.  But I didn’t listen.

Mama

Mama was happy to pose for the camera!

Me

And so was I.  And look, I showered for the occasion!

Mirror

Again, trying to be artsy by taking my photo in the side mirror. And if you look in the background, you’ll see that Miriam still doesn’t want her picture taken.

We were all in the car on our way to the apple farm!

Welcome

Why, thank you!

plums

Heh?

apples and pears

We got apples (cortlands and macouns), bartlett pears, and butternut squash at the first farm.  We visited two other farm stands, where we got tomatoes, eggplant, seckel pears, and corn.  There’s nothing better than fresh produce right from the farm.  These are the kind of snacks that will keep me on track!

But a little ice cream never killed anyone, right?
