Neither, really, although the sinus infection is directly related to my allergies, and my asthma is a bit out of control; I have a nasty cough, too. But it’s good to know that I don’t have swine flu (I mean H1N1, sorry). However, if this is how the allergies are going to be this season, I’m screwed.

Back to better times: My mom found this fantastic Indian restaurant to visit to celebrate our 30th birthdays (mine, Miriam’s, and our friend Erin, who turned 30 the month before we did). Actually, I had read reviews of it in the paper (it’s highly recommended often), so I was excited to go there! And it did not disappoint:

On the left is (what was left of) our appetizer, which included potatoes, chickpeas, onions, tomatoes, and some other deliciousness. That was the favorite dish, I think! Next in the photos is the malai kofta, which Miriam didn’t eat but the rest of us devoured. The sauce was amazing. Then you see chana masala, then my plate. We shared two more dishes: green beans and lentils and vegetable jalfrezi (making an appearance on my plate!). Everything was really tasty, and we turned down dessert. But, due to my mother mentioning no fewer than ten times that it was a birthday celebration, our waiter brought us this anyway:

dessert-1

View number one of the delicious frozen delicacies (vanilla, pistachio, and mango).

Oh man, this was unbelievable. The mango was a bit sweet, but I really loved the pistachio and vanilla. Happy birthday to me! (And Miriam. And Erin.)

Drool on it from this angle.

We had a great time! Thanks, Mom, for taking us out (and insisting we go there!).

“Sure, I gave birth to them and all I get is this glass of…mmm…wine, good deal.”

You can almost see Erin (and I’m barely there, too!).

A clear view of Miriam and Mama.

And Miriam loves naan!

I’m guessing you’re tired of seeing my horrible photography. And I’m exhausted. So I’ll just leave you with a quick rundown of upcoming events:

1) A visit from some cousins from Israel;
2) Miriam’s trip to Florida for some possible headache assistance and some time with JP;
3) Perhaps another update sometime soon!

And one more photo!
