I’d like to extend it to be inauguration week. And since this is my blog, I can do what I want.

I never get picked for anything. I never win anything. Ever. But on Tuesday, my number got called to sit on a jury, which I did for two days. Perhaps 10 is my lucky number; I should play the lottery! So a few short minutes before Obama took his oath, I was sworn in as Juror #8. However, his swearing in was much more interesting, so I’m posting it (with his speech, which you must watch) here. Yes, this is Obama taking the oath for the first time; he did retake the oath correctly the next day, with Roberts saying the words in the correct order this time. Two interesting facts: 1) Obama is the first president to be sworn in by a Chief Justice he did not vote for; 2) After I was sworn in as part of that jury, we broke for lunch so we could watch President Obama (!) take the oath. So it was better to be there that day than at work, where I would’ve been sitting at my desk sans TV. I would’ve listened on my mp3 player, but it was way better to watch. Yes, I did cry. I’m not ashamed. And you shouldn’t be either. So go ahead and weep.
