Snowing, that is. For now. As mentioned in my previous post, I hate this time of year. And this weekend proved my point.
It started snowing early Friday afternoon, picking up just in time for the post-work commute (an always fun adventure). While it slowed down, it didn’t really stop until Sunday. I stayed at my mom’s to help her shovel on Friday, then planned on staying to help out on Sunday. Turned out to be the best plan because when I drove to my apartment on Saturday, there was no place to park in front of the building (I didn’t even attempt the parking lot, since the side street to get there was not plowed, and we found out later that the parking lot hadn’t been plowed either). I then got stuck trying to park a little further down the street; I got out after a few minutes, but it wasn’t fun. So the plans changed a little; we (Miriam was with me, of course) went back to my mom’s, who drove us back to the apartment to pick up some stuff for the weekend. Her all-wheel drive vehicle does much better in this kind of weather! And this weather stresses me out; I go from speeding regularly to driving like a nervous old lady. I yell at other drivers in both cases.
So, besides shoveling and shoveling (and shoveling), we spent most of the weekend indoors. We watched Mamma Mia! (with Pierce Brosnan’s fantastic solos) on Friday night and Baby Mama (I heart Tina Fey) on Saturday night. Good times with mam(m)a movies at Mama’s house! Yesterday was a cooking and baking day; the vegetable soup, banana peanut butter chip muffins, and sour cream coffee cake are all delicious.
We did make it out to run some errands last night, and it was good to get out of the house. I felt really closed in and exhausted, but I felt better when I got some air (even when it was while shoveling). I ate a lot of crap this weekend, which didn’t help, and I didn’t exercise enough (unless the shoveling counts). It’s possible that I have seasonal affective disorder…or I just hate winter. If I had to guess, I’d say it’s a mixture of the two.
And now I’m at work. And I have a bit of a cold. Blurg.

I hate the snow as well. But the mama part of the weekend was fun! Tina Fey is a bit insane.

I watched Baby Mama last week too! I think my favorite part was when they’re wheeling Amy Poehler into the ER, and she yells at the nurses, “Why won’t you bitches help me?!”
Hee.
