Rosh Hashanah began on Monday night. So did the chills. Is it a bad sign if the new year starts off with the entire family (well, all the family members who gathered at Mama’s house) getting ill with a nasty stomach virus? It was not an enjoyable celebration (sorry, family, although I did enjoy seeing you; next time, please leave your illnesses at home and we’ll have a better time). And since it seems I already fasted this week, do I still have to fast next week on Yom Kippur? Just wondering (and trying).

Umm…maybe it means that you’re all getting the illness out of the way right off the bat? Then you’re done for the year?
Or not.

A plague on your family! Oh wait, you already HAVE that . . .

According to the Pie, “It is NOT A PLAGUE”. However, as a victim of the family sickness, let me assure you it was A PLAGUE….Now, Sara, I think that if we can have our own Kol Nidre, we can surely justify fasting a few days early. But if you want to know fer shure what America thinks, just ask some soccer moms….

Oh, man. That pretty much sounds like my worst nightmare: being stuck in a house full of barfing people. You have my sympathies.

It was pretty awful. Some of us managed not to barf, though. Plain old stubbornness, I think. Although the dry heaves are no fun either. Neither is shivering constantly for hours upon hours, then feeling completely hot and sweaty for long enough to throw off the blankets…just in time to realize you’re freezing. Good times.
