Yesterday was my 29th birthday. Since I couldn’t spend the day with all of you, I thought I’d share the next best thing: pictures!
At work, the last person to have a birthday is responsible for the next person’s birthday; that person must supply the card, the small gift, and the food. JM’s birthday was last, so she brought me a nice card that everyone signed, a $10 gift certificate to Dunkin’ Donuts, and a cake, which she baked. However, she didn’t decorate it; she brought in little icing tubes and sprinkles for me to decorate it. R was standing near the cake, and since he’s artistic, and it was my birthday, I asked him to decorate it. You can see the cake in the photo to the left; that’s our food table, by the way. You can see the candy canes from Christmas time back there, as well as some birthday hats left over from my birthday last year, and the cream cheese and bag of bagels from Bruegger’s that M brought in for me (I had requested bagels instead of cake, but I got both!). Anyway, R did a great job with the cake, and even included a hilarious proofreading joke:
Anyway, later, I celebrated my birthday over dinner with my twin sister Miriam and our mom. We went to Nicole’s, where we enjoyed a delicious meal, complete with some delicious desserts (a slice of french silk (cake? pie?) and a slice of their Baileys chocolate chip cheesecake, which my mom and I were hoping they’d have!). Thank you, Mom, for taking us to dinner…oh, and for birthing us 29 years ago. I wonder which was more fun?

Wow, birthday celebrations have gotten a lot better since I left. Remember when SOMEONE was on a diet and decided there shouldn’t be cake to celebrate birthdays? Boy, did that suck. But everything is better now! And yes, you are all big nerds. As I am I, for I laughed at the proofreading joke as well. Actually, I think for Mark’s birthday one year I left out the “A” (on purpose of course) in “Happy” when I decorated his cupcakes, and then put it back in with a caret. And I thought I was very clever. Good thing I’m so much cooler now. Anyway, looks like it was a very nice birthday.

Yes, I do remember that birthday. That loser is STILL (or again?) on a diet and wanted breakfast food instead of cake (breakfast food can be justified more than cake, don’t you think?). That was such a nice birthday, though, because SOMEONE actually listened to me and did what I wanted. And actually, we talked about those cupcakes you made (we being me and the other person who has still hung around this long)! We’re all so damn funny with our nerd jokes.

Hey Sara! (Yes, I’m still reading though I am hardly ever on Dkos these days thanks to work being heinous). Happy Birthday. Love that cake

Thanks, Christina! (I’m not on Daily Kos too much anymore either. And I’m a lurker on your site; I actually wanted to comment a few times but had to log in and couldn’t figure out how, despite my having a Wordpress account, or so I thought.)

…that cake is better than bagels?
Bagels have holes in them. Duh.

But bagels can be smothered in cream cheese! But as long as I have coffee, I can have either (and I did have both with my coffee, actually).

Hope you had a good time on the birthday. And, by the way, the dinner was more fun, but the birthing brought the greatest gifts of all!! Cheers to my babies!!

So not true. At the end of that birthing, you got two screaming babies (and one with a ginormous keppie). At the end of that dinner, we all got two delicious desserts! You know that was so much better.
