On January 30, 1969, The Beatles performed their final live performance on the rooftop of the Apple Studios in London. The police came a little while later to tell John, Paul, George, and Ringo (as well as guest musician Billy Preston) to stop playing, but not until they had already played five songs (a few of them a few times each). The impromptu concert was a great moment in Beatles history, ending with one of John’s most famous quotes: “I’d like to say ‘thank you’ on behalf of the group and ourselves, and I hope we passed the audition!”
Here are two of my favorite songs from that performance.
Don’t Let Me Down
Get Back (John’s quote is at the end of this song, the last one The Beatles ever played live; when Paul said “Thanks, Mo” right before that, he was talking to Ringo’s wife (at the time), Maureen.)

Fucking geniuses! But what the hell did John say? Learn the words to your own song! Just kidding!

Paul’s bassline on Don’t Let Me Down is some of my favorite music ever.
