That is a picture of Paul McCartney at his “secret show” in London last week. I put secret show in quotes because although they’ve been calling these shows secret, they’re pretty well publicized.
Yesterday I got an e-mail from paulmccartney.com (yes, I’m registered on the site) saying that I could enter to win a pair of wristbands to get into the secret show in New York City at the Highline Ballroom tonight. Now, I knew this gig was happening, but I certainly didn’t have the time to go and wait in a line like other people started to do yesterday (they handed out 100 tickets and told people to go home and come back for their wristbands today instead, as to not block up the street). So I thought this would be the perfect opportunity for me to try to go to a show of a lifetime: Paul McCartney in a small club! When would I ever get a chance to go to a show like that again? So I typed in my name and phone number.
It’s now 4:30, the doors to the show open at 7:00, and I haven’t heard anything.
I knew I wouldn’t win. And I don’t know how I thought I’d go anyway (although I told my boss and she said she wouldn’t stop me from going, even if I had found out I won and had to leave immediately). But I’m sad thinking that the show is just a few hours away, and I won’t be there because, as usual, I never win anything. Instead I’ll be home watching TV. At least there’s a new Top Chef on tonight.

I didn’t win this week either. My parent company had a contest in which you could win a trip to the Formula 1 race in Indianapolis this weekend. I am pretty sure I would have heard by now if I won…since I would need to time to pack right? I too had my bosses on full alert and kindly asked them not to enter the contest as to increase my chances of winning.
I guess it all works out in the end since another opportunity was presented to me for this weekend which I will post about soon.

Well, I guess neither of us got to go to something we really would’ve enjoyed. I am watching Top Chef while I comment, though, so I guess there’s something.
And I suppose I’ll find out what you’re up to this weekend when you post about it. I’m going to Syracuse. I hope what you’re doing is as exciting as that!

Adam used up all the family luck years ago, when he took his b f f Tom (and Daryl Hannah) on his winning trip to LA.
I can’t even win a free coffee when I roll-up-the-rim-to-win (or lose) at Tim Horton’s.

Damn him! I was thinking about when he won that recently. Allison said I should’ve used her name, she says she’s very lucky. Always wins, apparently. Damn her, too.

Hey L.A. was awesome!
Don Antonio’s was the BOMB!
Daryl could have enjoyed DA’s too but alas she did not join us.

I can’t imagine why she wouldn’t want to go with you guys to dinner. I mean, how could she do better than that?
