Paul's secret show in London

That is a picture of Paul McCartney at his “secret show” in London last week. I put secret show in quotes because although they’ve been calling these shows secret, they’re pretty well publicized.

Yesterday I got an e-mail from paulmccartney.com (yes, I’m registered on the site) saying that I could enter to win a pair of wristbands to get into the secret show in New York City at the Highline Ballroom tonight. Now, I knew this gig was happening, but I certainly didn’t have the time to go and wait in a line like other people started to do yesterday (they handed out 100 tickets and told people to go home and come back for their wristbands today instead, as to not block up the street). So I thought this would be the perfect opportunity for me to try to go to a show of a lifetime: Paul McCartney in a small club! When would I ever get a chance to go to a show like that again? So I typed in my name and phone number.

It’s now 4:30, the doors to the show open at 7:00, and I haven’t heard anything.

I knew I wouldn’t win. And I don’t know how I thought I’d go anyway (although I told my boss and she said she wouldn’t stop me from going, even if I had found out I won and had to leave immediately). But I’m sad thinking that the show is just a few hours away, and I won’t be there because, as usual, I never win anything. Instead I’ll be home watching TV. At least there’s a new Top Chef on tonight.
